STOP SMOKING CLINIC

Smoking KILLS, usually after causing many years of misery and ill health. It causes heart disease. It causes stroke. It causes debilitating lung disease. It is the source of one of the most powerful human carcinogens known, causing cancer of the mouth, throat, larynx, trachea, bronchus, lung, gullet, pancreas, kidney, stomach and bladder.

Smoking in pregnancy causes miscarriage, stillbirth, low birth weight and growth retardation.

Children of smokers have a higher risk of cot death, meningitis, serious chest infection, asthma and glue ear; they are also more prone to cancer and lung disease when they grow up. All this is entirely preventable - by STOPPING SMOKING.

We understand that smoking is an addiction and not EASY to give up. It is, however, quite POSSIBLE to give up, with self-motivation and support from friends, family and health care professionals. You can request help and advice from the practice nurse or your doctor during any clinic or surgery, or contact the NHS service on freephone 0800 915 5959.
