HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT?
Call in or telephone during office
hours. Please book a separate appointment for each member of the family who is
coming. All URGENT cases will be seen at the next surgery, even if there are no
free appointments. This may involve waiting, and you will be fitted in with the
first available doctor. PLEASE HELP US TO HELP YOU BY NOT ABUSING THIS FACILITY.
If you cannot keep your appointment,
please let us know in good time, so that it can be offered to someone else. Ill
children will always be seen as soon as possible if brought to the surgery (this
may be quicker than a home visit). If in doubt about bringing your child out,
please phone the surgery first and the doctor can advise. Because of the unpredictable
nature of our work, there are times when you may have to wait. We are sorry for
these delays and do try to prevent them - but please bear with us. The doctors
also have duties at the local hospital, which may take them from the surgery at
short notice.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT?
Ideally, all patients should be seen
in the surgery, where we have access to diagnostic facilities. Only ask for a
home visit if the patient is too ill or infirm to be brought to the surgery. Please
telephone between 8.30 and 10.30am, giving the full name and address of the patient,
and some details of their condition, to help the doctor assess the priority and
urgency of the visit.
HOW
DO I...
REGISTER WITH THE PRACTICE?
The practice believes strongly in
continuity of care, which means that where possible we encourage patients to see
the same doctor/nurse on a regular basis. We believe this is better for you, as
the doctor gets to know you and your medical history, and better for the doctor,
who does not have to start from scratch in each consultation. New patients joining
the practice will be allocated to a particular doctor, and you will be informed
of this when you join the practice. You do have a right to request a different
doctor if you so wish, and we will do our best to accommodate this, although cannot
guarantee it. If you do wish to request a different doctor, please make a routine
appointment with that doctor to discuss the matter. |
